Prepaid gives you no bill to read, so the usage information has to come from somewhere else. The providers publish three mechanisms, and between them they answer the three questions that matter: how much is left, when does it expire, and what rolled over.
The published mechanisms
- An app or short code: call and data usage information is available in the My Boost Mobile app or by dialling the short code.
- Automatic alerts: you automatically receive SMS alerts when you are reaching or have reached your data limits or credit expiry.
- Auto recharge, where a registered credit or debit card tops you up without being asked.
Which question each one answers
| Question | Mechanism |
|---|---|
| How much data is left | App or short code |
| How much credit is left | App or short code |
| When does this end | SMS expiry alert |
| Am I about to run out | SMS data limit alert |
| Will I be charged for lapse | Auto recharge |
The alerts are the important pair, because they fire on a threshold rather than requiring you to remember a date. Combined with auto recharge on a registered card, the failure mode of prepaid, a missed cycle, becomes something the provider handles rather than something you do.
What is not published
We do not publish a web account for any of these plans, because none of these providers states one in the documents we hold. If you use a service not covered here, its app is its own account and we make no claim about it.
What we could not verify. Where a provider has not published a figure we mark it unknown rather than estimate it. Re-read the provider page linked below on the day you decide.
