amaysim is a retailer rather than a network. Every prepaid plan in its catalogue runs on Optus 4G/5G, and the network and contract terms are stated alongside each plan row rather than in a separate document.
What the catalogue states
Each plan row states Optus 4G/5G and no lock-in contract. That is the whole network commitment on the catalogue page: Optus 4G and 5G, with a 28 day or 7 day cycle and no lock-in. There is no separate network tier to upgrade to within the catalogue, because the network is the same on every row.
What that means for the comparison
Because every amaysim plan is on the same network, comparing amaysim against another provider on the same Optus network compares plans, not networks. If you are choosing between them for coverage reasons, you are actually choosing between Optus coverage and someone elses coverage, and the plan design is secondary.
The coverage question, answered the honest way
Optus 5G is non-standalone on the prepaid data plans in our fact base. Those plans provide access to the Optus 4G network and, for activations after 18 May 2026, 4G and standard 5G non-standalone, with coverage varying so you must check the coverage map. The variation clause is the operative one. We do not promise coverage at any address and neither does the provider.
If Optus coverage is good where you live and work, amaysim is a reasonable way to buy an Optus plan without an Optus contract. If it is not, no plan on this network fixes it.
Coverage. No provider promises coverage street by street, and neither do we. Check the provider coverage map for the addresses you actually care about before you commit to a plan.
